Sustainable innovation and transformative technology to shine at the largest edition of Light + Intelligent Building Middle East

Light + Intelligent Building Middle East, the region’s leading event for lighting and building technology, will be held next week from 14-16 January at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The 2024 edition broke previous records, welcoming 14,388 visitors and 417 exhibitors. This year’s show is poised to build on this success, featuring over 440 exhibitors from 33 countries.

Light + Intelligent Building Middle East 2025 will explore the theme “Building Commonality Through Community, Creativity and Culture”, emphasising the significance of idea exchange, communal advantages, and cultural diversity in the Middle East region.

Speaking ahead of the event, Abdul Muhsin, Show Director for Light + Intelligent Building Middle East commented: “Light + Intelligent Building Middle East returns with a much larger exhibition space this year, uniting key government bodies, industry trailblazers, international associations and global leaders in lighting and building technology. Attendees can look forward to the return of our world-class show features including the THINLIGHT conference, the Smart Building Summit, industry-led workshops at InSpotLight and the Light Middle East Awards.”

The THINKLIGHT conference provides a platform for regional and international lighting professionals to exchange knowledge and collectively shape the future of lighting, design and technology in the region.

Over 30 speakers will be featured at the conference, discussing topics including ‘The Evolution of Lighting Design in the Middle East’ and

‘Commonality: Why the Lighting Industry Needs to Work Towards Common Goals’.

The Smart Building Summit, now in its third edition, will showcase the revolutionary impact of state-of-the-art smart technologies that seamlessly integrate into our environments. These innovations set new standards in modern architecture and design, from maximising energy efficiency to enhancing occupant safety, comfort and driving sustainability.

The summit will feature a number of key government speakers including Ramachandra Yermal,  Advisor – Big Data & Data Platforms, Department of Government Enablement, Abu Dhabi and Dr. Hossam Elshenraki, Professor of Cyber Crime Investigation and Head of Police Management Department, Dubai Police Academy.

New additions to the Smart Building Summit this year include a panel discussion on regulatory standards and compliance governing smart buildings. The summit will also launch new guidelines from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) on the methodology for calculating embodied carbon in building services.

InSpotLight will showcase the latest lighting designs, technology and trends, addressing how these trends are going to improve the user experience. Leading lighting experts and designers will also share the latest lighting standards and guidelines for the region.

The Specifiers’ Arena – Product Pitch will take centre stage on the opening day of InSpotLight, where finalists for the Light Middle East Awards 2025 ‘Product of the Year’ will present their solutions to a live audience.

Another highlight of InSpotLight is a workshop on ‘Building Commonality in Global Lighting Best Practices’, hosted by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL).

The Light Middle East Awards return for an 11th edition, celebrating regional and international lighting projects, products and designers. Taking place on the final day of the show, the Light Middle East Awards brings together the region’s most influential lighting designers, manufacturers, and suppliers to celebrate industry achievements and shape the future of lighting design and technology.

Light + Intelligent Building Middle East covers six product sections which include Technical Lighting, Electric Lamps and Components, Decorative Lighting, Architectural Lighting, Electrical Engineering, Smart Home and Building Automation.

Light + Intelligent Building Middle East is part of the international Light + Building exhibition brand and is co-located with Intersec to create the MENA region’s largest trade fair covering the building services sector. The event takes place from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in Za’abeel Halls 1-4 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
