In this product focus, OPTEX talks about its Smart Line Series, which creates a virtual perimeter from 30 meters to 200 meters with beam sets, and explains that as part of the multi-layer approach it advocates, IR beams offer an accurate perimeter defence to intrusions.
OPTEX beams are used in many different applications from residential, to commercial to critical infrastructure. With the detection range offered, they can secure a garden through to a solar farm or airport and everything in between.
Although walls and fences provide physical detection, they are vulnerable to intruders looking to climb over or cut through. Beams offer an invisible line of detection and can be mounted on top of fences or walls to provide an additional layer of security. Equally, if the premises does not have walls or fences, IR beams offer an alternative solution that can trigger an alarm if the perimeter is crossed.
Easy alignment tools
A perfect alignment between transmitter and receiver is key to optimise the operation of the active beams. To make the optical alignment easier, the chassis in the SL IR beam series features vivid yellow colours to be seen from a distance. Additionally, the ‘Sniper Viewfinder’ is a new telescope lens which gives a high level of visibility for optical alignment work. Even over long distances, a perfect installation and stable performance can be achieved in a short period.
Weather resistant
IP65 rated, the housing has been designed to resist the intrusion of both water and dust. The two hoods featured on the front cover are positioned over the upper and lower beam to prevent frost from attaching to the cover and potentially affecting the signal power. The housing is made of UV resistant polycarbonate material to avoid deterioration caused by ultraviolet rays, whilst maintaining good transparency for the infrared beams over time.
Sensor choice to fit your perimeter
The SL series has a diverse range of models with beams for every distance ranging from 30m to 200m.
Beam tower
Active IR beams can be stacked in customised beam towers. The OPTEX in-house technical experts can advise and build beam towers to your requirements.
Beam towers can come in 1.0m, 1.5m, 2.0m or 3.0m in height, the number of stacked beams will be dependent on the height and the beams are optional to your specifications and dependent on the distance you are protecting. OPTEX beam towers typically consist of multiple infrared beams either SL or AX series, arranged in pairs between the transmitter and receiver units. The multi-beam setup increases detection accuracy and reduces false alarms by ensuring that only genuine intrusions trigger alerts.
OPTEX beam towers can come with many different accessories.
1. Each beam is installed alongside a fan for cooling purposes in warm conditions.
2. The connection hub for power and all the sensors and switches in the tower. Configuration depends on installed options.
3. Each individual beam in the tower is installed with a heater to provide heat in colder climates.
4. Each beam tower is installed tamper button, should the tower opened from the top.
