Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic has conducted a series of awareness training courses on traffic safety rules and guidelines for the security guards of GEMS Education schools. The programme covered 38 schools and benefited more than 133 participants.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stressed that the initiative reflects Dubai Police’s strategy to enhance road safety in educational environments and to strengthen the preparedness of staff responsible for safeguarding students inside and outside school premises.
He explained that the training programme covered several key areas, including managing and organising traffic flow in front of schools during peak times, ensuring safety when students board and disembark from school buses, directing vehicles and pedestrians to maintain smooth traffic and protect lives, responding promptly to emergencies, providing initial support until specialised authorities arrive, and empowering security guards to play a preventive role in spreading traffic safety awareness among students and parents.
Brigadier bin Suwaidan emphasised that security guards are the first line of defence in protecting students’ safety. Equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills, he added, supports the culture of compliance with traffic laws and the protection of lives.
He further noted that Dubai Police’s objectives include protecting all road users from accidents, promoting traffic awareness to reduce risks, and achieving higher levels of road safety, in line with the UAE’s efforts to preserve lives and property while building a community that respects traffic rules and regulations.
Representatives of GEMS Education expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Dubai Police for this initiative, highlighting that such programmes strengthen cooperation between security and educational institutions and contribute to creating a safe and stable learning environment.
Dubai Police regularly organises awareness and training programmes targeting students, teachers, and security guards, aiming to raise safety awareness within the school community, reduce accident rates around schools, and reinforce the culture of compliance with laws, in support of Dubai Police’s vision of making roads safer for all.
