David White’s 50-year career recognised with the Gordon McLanaghan Award

Global MSC Security has honoured David White’s 50-year career in policing and the security industry, with the 2022 Gordon McLanaghan Award for Security Innovation. The highly respected consultant, tutor and former police officer, was presented with a piece of Bristol Blue glassware, by the Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby, upon his retirement earlier this month.

The Gordon McLanaghan Award is presented annually, by Global MSC Security, in honour and memory of Gordon McLanaghan, an innovator within the Bristol City Council CCTV and Emergency Control Centre, who sadly passed away in 2014. The award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual or organisation to security innovation and excellence.

White began his career as a police officer, serving for 32 years. From 1997 he was the CCTV lead for Thames Valley Police and in 2004 he brought this experience and expertise to the security industry, working as a Global MSC Security consultant, as well as a Senior Tutor for Tavcom Training for 15-years. His relationship with Global MSC Security started 17-years ago, whilst he was working on a project for the government in Barbados. Since then, White has shared his insight into control room management and operations, as well as good governance of surveillance camera systems with Global MSC Security clients.

“Reflecting upon my career in the security industry I am especially proud of helping control room managers to ensure the practical but effective governance and operational standards of their CCTV systems,” said White. “Secondly, and most important to me, has been the opportunity to teach and empower security professionals, at all levels, seeing them develop and flourish in the industry.”

“David has made a truly outstanding contribution to policing and the security industry and whilst his retirement is well deserved, he will be sorely missed,” added Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby. “The work he has done with Global MSC Security, to improve public space CCTV surveillance for councils throughout the UK, making towns and cities safer places for citizens and businesses, will stand the test of time. I am proud to present the Gordon McLanaghan Award to an exceptional colleague and friend.”
