DeterTech a leader in site security, forensic marking and crime intelligence participated in the Trust’s latest Community Engagement programmes, providing an educational and impactful crime prevention at Gunnersbury Park.
Over 60 young people took part in an interactive session on crime deterrence and forensic marking, gaining valuable insight into how technology can help protect people and communities.
The community engagement follows DeterTech’s partnership with Brentford FC as its official site security partner, which was announced in April.
Deterring and Detecting Crime with Forensic Marking
As part of DeterTech’s ongoing commitment to building safer communities, participants learnt about SmartWater, a cutting edge forensic marking technology that deters theft and aids in criminal investigations.
Each attendee left with their own SmarWater forensics marking kit that they can use to mark their own belongings, such as their mobile phone.
Owned by DeterTech, SmartWater is an innovative ‘traceable liquid’ that provides a legally irrefutable way of identifying stolen property and linking criminals to their crimes. It retains a 100% conviction rate in contested court cases and has been instrumental in securing convictions, including for phone snatching, residential burglaries and even domestic abuse.
