Dubai Police airport security officials and strategic partners have recently met to discuss the future of civil aviation security at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).
The airport is set to become the world’s largest with a projected capacity of 260 million passengers and the panel discussion was held by the General Department of Airport Security, in collaboration with the Future Foresight Centre and the Corporate Development Office for Ports Affairs, per directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
Held at THUKHER Club, the discussion aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, who recently approved the designs for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International.
His Highness also instructed the immediate commencement of construction, costing AED 128 billion. The airport will be five times the size of Dubai International Airport (DXB), with plans to relocate all operations there over the coming years.

The session, titled “Envisioning the Future of Al Maktoum International Airport – The Largest Airport in the World,” focused on three major themes: strategic infrastructure planning, analysis of future trends, and the integration of smart technologies.
Session Purpose
Brigadier Hamouda Belsuwaida Al Amri, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, emphasised the importance of the session in his opening remarks. He explained that the aim was to share insights and ideas that would shape the future of civil aviation security.
The objective is to address challenges collectively, embrace rapid developments, and forecast future events based on data analysis. Al Amri stressed the importance of making decisions today that would pave the way for a promising and prosperous future.
He added, “We stand together to face all challenges, plan, work, and succeed, no matter the circumstances, ensuring the continuity of our operations. With the dedication of our skilled workforce and our commitment to investing in them, we are confident in our ability to secure a bright future. Integrating smart systems and strengthening infrastructure will play a critical role in securing our airports.”
Al Amri highlighted the vital role of airports as global hubs and the need to promote safety and security to foster cultural, intellectual, and economic exchange.
He noted the importance of adapting to rapid technological advancements and implementing sustainable solutions to enhance the efficiency of operations and the overall passenger experience.

Lieutenant Colonel Khalifa Ahmad Al Hajri, Director of the Corporate Development Office for Ports Affairs, delivered a presentation outlining the specialised security strategy for airports. His presentation covered a range of relevant topics, including future trends in aviation security, air transport, cargo handling, and the latest developments in smart technologies and equipment.
