Dubai Police has recently wrapped up the dynamic 15th edition of its “Event Security” course at the Address Hotel.

The three-day course, led by top-tier security experts, attracted 88 participants from eight police and specialised institutions across the UAE.

Acting on directives from His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs, attended the course’s closing ceremony.

The three-day course is collaborative between the VIP Protection Department and the General Department of Training. It is designed to instil a robust culture of event security among internal and external partners and ensures readiness for Dubai’s status as a global event hub.

Participants hailed from a diverse array of entities, including the General Command of the Amiri Guard in Sharjah, Guard Group Command in Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai Sports Council, Emaar Properties, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Al Habtoor Group, MBC Group, and various departments of Dubai Police.

Major General Al Ghaithi emphasised the course’s importance in enhancing operational readiness and efficiency, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to hosting world-class events.

“The curriculum was meticulously designed to foster collaboration, share best practices, and elevate the overall quality of event management and security,” he confirmed.

In his remarks, Major General Al Ghaithi also praised the participants and the course content, which aligns with Dubai Police’s strategic vision of maintaining high standards of safety and security. He highlighted how the training supports the effective organisation of events, which is crucial given the UAE’s burgeoning role as a premier destination for global events.

Brigadier Mohammed Atiq Thani, Acting Director of the General Department of Training, highlighted the course’s significance within the annual training schedule. He noted that the hands-on approach and expert-led sessions are key to reflecting the UAE’s advanced and professional image in the field of event security.

Colonel Issa Hamza Ahli, Director of the VIP Protection Department, outlined three main objectives of the course: promoting event security culture among partners, enhancing the ability to address and report obstacles efficiently, and clarifying the roles of all stakeholders to improve cooperation.

“The course content was carefully curated to provide essential knowledge and practical skills, empowering security personnel to manage their responsibilities effectively and ensure the safety of all event attendees,” he explained.

Captain Saud Al Suwaidi, the course coordinator, noted the engaging combination of theoretical and practical training designed to ensure participants can apply their learning in real-world scenarios.

“The course also featured significant female participation, with 29 women among the 88 attendees, demonstrating advanced knowledge and high proficiency in specialised security training,” he added.
