Dubai Police Future Foresight Centre praised for pioneering the next era of policing

Major General Ahmad Mohammed Rafi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Administrative Affairs at the Dubai Police, emphasised the significant and pivotal role of the Future Foresight and Decision-Making Support Centre of the Dubai Police. 

The centre plays a crucial role in supporting the entire security system through its studies and research that look into the future of policing. By providing critical data, recommendations, and insights, the centre aids decision-makers in shaping future policies and adopting sustainable strategic projects. 

The centre’s core objectives include:
•    Ensuring community happiness.
•    Fostering a safe and resilient city.
•    Driving innovation within institutional capabilities.

Major General Rafi mentioned that the Future Foresight Centre greatly enriches the general departments, police stations, councils, and various administrative units of Dubai Police with information and knowledge. 

“This enhancement improves performance levels and provides proactive solutions to deal with the fast-paced changes across various sectors, ensuring a professional and advanced level of performance,” he said. 

Major General Rafi made these remarks during his inspection visit to the Future Foresight Centre as part of the annual inspection program for the general departments and police stations. 

Present during the visit were Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Butti Al Shamsi, Acting Director of the Future Foresight Centre; Brigadier Khaled Said Bin Sulaiman, Deputy Director of the Regulatory Office; Colonel Dr. Hamdan Al Ghasia, Deputy Director of the Future Foresight Centre; Colonel Badr Busmara, Director of Assessment and Institutional Excellence in the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering; Major Dr. Hamdan Al Samt, Director of the Institutional Development Office in the Excellence and Pioneering sector; along with several officers and directors of sub-departments and heads of sections at the centre.

Major General Rafi was briefed on the strategic indicators of the centre, its role in supporting the directions of the Dubai Police, and how these tie in with various general departments and police stations. 

He was also informed about the readiness indicators of the Dubai Police for the future based on the Dubai Readiness Index and the future studies and reports where there were four studies, seven reports, and eight bulletins that foresee the future of police work.

Major General Rafi reviewed the approved projects, with 21 projects approved in 2022 and 12 under approval. These serve sectors such as criminal investigation, administration, excellence and leadership, port security, community happiness, operations, academy and training, among others.

The Future Foresight Centre showcased its programs to disseminate and enhance the culture of future foresight. The centre has conducted 105 training courses and workshops in 2022, benefiting 8,693 employees from various sectors.

Toward the end of the inspection visit, Major General Rafi lauded the efforts and achievements of the centre, stressing the importance of creating qualitative leaps and high standards in performance. He also praised women’s empowerment at the centre and honoured several distinguished employees for their exceptional performance and achievements.
