Dubai Police recently concluded the ‘Humanitarian Forensic Action Training’ course with the participation of 36 personnel from Dubai Police, as well as representatives from local and international organisations, including India, Chile and Indonesia.
The course, organised by the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS) at the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology in Dubai Police, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was delivered by Stephen Fonseca, Director of the African Centre for Forensic Medical Systems.
Expert Dr Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Al Ghafri, Director of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS), emphasised that the course’s objective is to enhance knowledge in the field of humanitarian forensic sciences and strengthen capabilities in identifying disaster victims and missing persons.
Al Ghafri highlighted that the course aligns with the strategic and training plan of the ICFS, which offers advanced specialised programs aimed at providing personnel and specialists in forensic sciences and criminology with the latest knowledge, scientific advancements, practical experiences, and applied models, ensuring they are well-informed about pressing issues and prominent challenges, along with effective strategies for tackling them.
“The Centre holds a distinguished position as one of the world’s leading scientific institutions specialising in forensic evidence”, he added.
Al Ghafri highlighted that the course aligns with the strategic and training plan of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS), which offers advanced specialised programs aimed at providing personnel and specialists in forensic sciences and criminology with the latest knowledge, scientific advancements, practical experiences, and applied models.
He added that the centre also ensures that participants are well-informed about current issues and significant challenges, providing them with effective strategies to address them, as it holds a prominent position as one of the world’s leading scientific institutions specialising in forensic evidence.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology to the ongoing development of its personnel through special training programs that aim to enhance their specialised skills and equip them with diverse and specialised knowledge in various areas of forensic evidence.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Department, through its ICFS, offers advanced courses not only to Dubai Police employees but also to various local and regional organisations.
During the closing ceremony, participants received certificates, and the course instructor was acknowledged and honoured for their valuable contribution.
