IDEMIA Public Security North America has announced that it will officially begin issuing all new Driver’s Licenses (DLs) and Identification Cards (IDs) for the State of Texas.
The new cards will be manufactured using tamper-resistant polycarbonate, a durable material that is difficult to reproduce and fully compliant with American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) standards. In place of the traditional gold star to indicate REAL ID Compliance, the card’s updated design features a black, laser engraved star in the upper right corner.
IDEMIA’s next-generation credentials are designed with advanced security features and cutting-edge materials to ensure the highest level of protection and compliance, underscoring IDEMIA’s commitment to innovation, security, and public trust in identity verification systems.
“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety to ensure Texas residents can continue to trust their verified identity credential,” said Rob Gardner, CEO, IDEMIA Civil Identity. “These new credentials represent a major step forward in secure identification with the integration of the latest technology to protect personal information and prevent counterfeiting, while also improving readability and usability.”
Key features of the new design include:
- 100% polycarbonate construction with laser-engraved features
- A Texas shaped window with a red/blue optical variable design for visual authentication
- An integrated tactile surface feature for added security verification
- Clear, easy-to-read formatting of personal information for easier identification and verification
In addition to driver’s licenses and IDs, IDEMIA will also produce for Texas:
- Employee ID Cards
- Election ID Certificates
