As monitoring centres face increasing complexity, integrating video monitoring with access control is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. Immix explains how they, working with Brivo, deliver a seamless solution for managing and securing assets, properties and people.
“The security industry has come a long way since the days of traditional burglar systems. While IP cameras have been around since the 90s – and analog CCTV decades before even that – we’ve seen a recent boom of new products and solutions that fit into the security ecosystem.
“Many of these systems – especially those at the enterprise level – are difficult to manage, requiring special technical expertise and certifications. While they may fit some of the needs of the corporation and end users utilising them, they can be tricky for monitoring centres to leverage.
“Brivo Access simplifies the implementation and management of access control systems and works seamlessly with other players in the security ecosystem.
“It is highly beneficial for the end user to have a system that can integrate with video surveillance, visitor management, identity and access management systems (IAMs), building management, and other types of systems that correlate specifically with the end user experience.
“Instead of having to manage each of those systems individually – take into consideration user training and overall familiarity with the platforms as well as administration and ongoing maintenance and management – relevant data, user permissions, actions, and alerts can flow more easily between them.
“Similarly on the monitoring side, the alerts, relevant data, and actions that can be taken by an operator are enabled in a single pane of glass through the Immix platform.
“By integrating with Brivo and other systems that have security and safety repercussions, professional monitoring centres can scale effectively and create both resource and cost efficiencies.
How the Integration Works
“The Brivo integration to the Immix platform supports the following features:
- Universal Access Control (UAC): “A simplified interface to onboard access control systems and link relevant alarms and access points. UAC takes the load off of the monitoring centre by abstracting the convoluted setup and management processes away, leaving a single-pane-of-glass UI where each access control system is centrally set up and managed in a simple and easy to understand intuitive interface.
- GetConfig: “This functionality allows all devices from the access control system to be pulled in and configured. This reduces the configuration efforts from having to manually integrate each alarm and access point.
- Alarms: “Real-time alerts from Brivo will be sent into the associated site in Immix. Specific alarm types such as door forced, door held, tamper, and anti-passback can be configured with their own workflows, priority levels, scripts, schedules, and more. They can also be associated with cameras that are on the site and provide operators with the context of the alarm trigger – both pre- and post-recording of the alarm, depending on the particular video integration. This allows the operator to more quickly take action.
- Relay Control: “Operators are able to pulse an alarm point from the Immix site interface, effectively opening an access point. The “pulse” component means that the door will automatically re-lock, assuring site security and control of the access point. This feature opens up the ability for a monitoring centre to provide entry management services where they allow ingress or egress to particular areas based on certain criteria.
Benefits at a Glance
- Faster Incident Resolution
“With integrated access control and video monitoring, operators can instantly verify and respond to access events. For example, when an unauthorised access attempt occurs, the system pairs the event with real-time video footage, enabling operators to assess the situation immediately and take action without switching between systems. - Enhanced Operator Efficiency
“A unified platform eliminates the need to toggle between separate access control and video monitoring software. This streamlined workflow reduces operator fatigue and training requirements, allowing teams to focus on what matters most—protecting people and assets. - Improved Accuracy and Reduced Errors
“Manual processes and fragmented systems can lead to missed or delayed responses. By automating access alerts and pairing them with video evidence, operators gain clarity and context, minimising the risk of false alarms or incorrect responses. - Centralised Management for Multi-Site Operations
“For monitoring centres overseeing multiple sites, integration provides a centralised view of all activities. Whether managing a network of retail stores, residential complexes, or educational campuses, operators can monitor access and video events from one platform, ensuring consistency and control across locations. - Tailored Solutions for Diverse Industries
“Every sector faces unique security challenges. Whether it’s securing entry points in a school, managing tenant access in a multi-family property, or monitoring high-risk areas in retail and finance, the Immix-Brivo integration adapts to specific needs, delivering targeted solutions that make a difference. - Increased Client Satisfaction and Retention
“Offering integrated security solutions positions monitoring centers as industry leaders. Clients benefit from a more robust, efficient, and user-friendly security service, making them more likely to remain loyal and recommend your services to others.”
