Intersec 2025 interview: Synectics

Synectics

Leader in advanced security and surveillance systems, Synectics will take stand S1 F39 at Intersec 2025, and will put its Synergy Software front and centre, demonstrating its many features. In this exclusive interview, Business Strategy Director, David Aindow, explains more.

What can visitors to your Intersec stand expect to see?

DA: “Our Synergy software will be front and centre. It’s at the heart of what we do, ensuring customers worldwide can always see the information that matters when protecting their people, assets, and operations.

“Demos of features like Synergy Web and our mobile app will particularly interest organisations keen to move surveillance monitoring ‘beyond the control room’. These tools are all geared towards helping control room teams collaborate more effectively with field-based colleagues and third-party companies.

“We’ll also demonstrate Synergy’s latest AI-based capabilities. Synergy DETECT, for example, allows users to select and tailor a range of powerful AI-driven video analysis tools for real-time safety and security risk detection.

“Intersec visitors to our stand will also be the first in the world to preview two new AI-based developments – our Forensic Search capabilities and Facial Recognition (FR) Module.

“The former, which leverages generative AI, allows users to search footage faster and more accurately with natural language queries. The latter provides Synergy users with a unified interface to numerous third-party FR engines – ensuring these can be linked to Synergy’s built-in person of interest capabilities and incident management tools.

“In addition to these exciting developments, visitors to the stand can learn more about our COEX camera stations, featuring onboard AI capabilities for hazardous and safe area monitoring on land or at sea, and our latest 4K IP cameras.”

Can we expect any announcements from you at the show?

DA: “Yes, an important one – the fact ‘we’re back’. As well as being our first Intersec in many years, we are also re-establishing our Middle East presence by opening a new UAE branch in Abu Dhabi.

“It is still early days, and we’ll be announcing more details about this in the coming months, but our intention is clear. To support customers across the region with dedicated local support and expertise, backed by global resources.”

What do you feel you are offering that sets you aside from your competitors?

DA: “The region has big plans for infrastructure, from the development of new smart cities and integrated transport systems to becoming a leader in everything from healthcare facilities to integrated resorts. This is on top of continuing developments in energy, oil, and gas.

“We provide security and surveillance solutions for all these sectors, meaning we’re ideally – and possibly uniquely – equipped to help.

“Importantly, it’s not just our in-depth experience in multiple sectors that sets us apart. I think it is also the extreme flexibility our solutions offer. With Synergy, customers can monitor any system that matters, from any location, using the best tools for their specific needs. It’s all completely tailorable. And that always delivers the best results.”

What do you think will be the main drivers for business next year?

DA: “The region is pretty advanced in terms of the technologies and systems organisations have at their disposal but less so in terms of integration best practices.

“It is still very common for disparate solutions to be monitored and managed in silos. Which isn’t very resource-efficient and opens the door to incidents ‘falling through the cracks’ – especially where threats only become detectable by taking a holistic approach.

“Helping customers gain this unified view has always been our sweet spot, so I think this will be a major business driver for us next year when looking specifically at this region.

“That said, we also see integral AI solutions being an extremely important requirement across all sectors and geographies next year. We will continue to expand our offering in this area as a result.”

What will be the primary challenges, and what is your strategy to overcome potential hurdles?

DA: “Regulatory compliance is one all our customers face. Some more than others, depending on the sector. Our priority remains working closely with organisations so that we can advise on the best possible solutions in relation to specific regulatory requirements.

“For instance, most public and private facilities operating in Abu Dhabi are legally obliged to have a monitoring and control system that complies with the terms and conditions specified by the Monitoring and Control Center (MCC). We can help with this.

“I think another opportunity is education, especially when it comes to AI.

“For instance, many organisations don’t know that camera placement and lighting conditions still significantly influence the best possible results from AI-based video analytics. Another common misconception we encounter is concerns about privacy, when, in fact, there are numerous tools available – and ways AI can be adopted – that safeguard public privacy and data protection.

“Our approach to addressing this is the same as supporting customers with their challenges. It’s all about working in partnership with customers to ensure they have all the facts they need to make the best choices.”

Are there and special considerations or additional support that you offer your clients across the Middle East?

DA: “Opening our new Abu Dhabi branch will certainly be a boost, giving customers an additional level of local support.

“But we’re also going to be doing a lot more—from working with our regional partners to running CPD-style events to educate and raise awareness of technology developments and issues relevant to specific markets.

“There are some really exciting times ahead, and Intersec is just the start! We can’t wait to see everyone there.”
