Intersec 2024 interview – Gallagher Security

Gallagher Security

Gallagher Security is a global leader in integrated technology solutions that help organisations around the world protect, secure, and manage people and assets. Its award-winning solutions are trusted by government, defense, commercial, industrial, healthcare, transportation, mining, and educational organisations in 140 countries. The company will be present at this year’s Intersec trade show, situated in Sheikh Saeed Hall 1, Stand J12. Here, we hear from General Manager ROW, Ian Meadows, about what visitors can expect at the show.

How are you finding the current market in the Middle East?

IM: “The Middle East is an exciting and dynamic place to be. As a region it is progressive, committed to innovation and exploring new ways of doing business, living and utilising the unique environment on which it sits.

“There is constant growth and expansion which is both energising and exciting. The region has a number of ambitious projects both underway and in the pipeline, and the trajectory at which these are coming to fruition is encouraging.

“The Saudi 2030 Vision means there is plenty of development in the region and Gallagher is excited to be a part of it.”

Can we expect any announcements from you at the show?

IM: “It has been another huge year for Gallagher Security, with significant product releases and most recently the presentation of our inaugural Gallagher Security Industry Trends Report.

“In October 2023 we released v9 of Command Centre, Gallagher’s award-winning site management software. Command Centre was the first system to offer alarm, access, and perimeter security in one single product. It is one of the most feature-rich site management platforms available and releases two feature upgrades every year.

“In November we released the Controller 7000 (C7000), the latest product in our controller family.

“Capable of managing all localised access control, intruder alarms, perimeter security, business automation, and logic needs for organisations, the C7000 represents a new generation of Gallagher Security technology, offering streamlined upgrades and advanced cybersecurity. Building on the incredible groundwork introduced with the Controller 7000 Single Door released in February 2023, the C7000 gives users an opportunity to leverage their hardware and firmware to build a platform designed to catapult their organisation into the future.

“The first Gallagher Security Industry Trends Report was released in December 2023 and paints a larger picture of transition on the horizon in 2024.

“Following a turbulent year in which supply chain disruptions, labor market shifts, and global financial uncertainty continued to rock the security industry, Gallagher’s Security Industry Trends Report predicts that the defining trend of 2024 will be an increasing speed of transition away from basic defenses to innovative solutions, a charge led by current global pain points.

“Finally, we are in the process of opening our Gallagher Security Middle East office in Riyadh which will be a real asset to our Middle East team as we look set to launch into some exciting projects in the region in 2024.”

What do you feel you are offering that sets you aside from your competitors?

IM: “Gallagher’s vertically integrated production model is what sets us apart.

“For 85 years, our solutions have been designed, engineered, manufactured, and distributed on site from our head office in Hamilton, New Zealand. Controlling every element of the production cycle means more oversight over our end-to-end solutions, including the flexibility to be responsive to changing global environments and the ability to produce a line of high security solutions securing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure. Every component, from our software through to our hardware, is generated and assembled in one location, reducing the number of touchpoints and vulnerabilities faced by other security manufacturers who rely on outsourcing from third parties.

“And as a privately-owned company, Gallagher Security has the freedom and ability to invest in our manufacturing and distribution facilities as needed to ensure we can continue to meet market demand, including maintaining highly trusted relationships with our supply chain. It also means agility to rapidly innovate and bring new technologies to market, an achievement made possible by our dedication to investing 15% of profits back into our research and development team each year. The end result is a security manufacturer who can deliver during uncertain times and without sacrificing quality.”

What are you doing to develop your existing footprint in region?

IM: “Gallagher has been proudly present in the Middle East for more than 20 years and has been fortunate to work on a number of iconic projects in region during that time.

“At present, we secure more than 31,000 doors, protect over 200km of perimeter for over 750 customers across 14 countries.

“We are expanding our presence in the region with the opening of a third office, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of our efforts to support the Saudi 2030 Vision. We have recently been awarded the Qiddiya Water Theme Park and King Salman Park projects; both are multi-million-dollar projects that we are proud to support these as they come to life.”
