ISC West 2024 Interview – Cypress Integration Solutions

Cypress Integration Solutions

Cypress Integration Solutions is a recognised leader in the design and manufacture of electronic security products and technologies, specialising in unique and secure communication solutions for physical and logical access control. The company will have a stand at this year’s upcoming ISC West show, and in this exclusive interview we speak to Vice President, Chief Operations Officer; Jon Uren, and Founder, President and CEO, Tony Diodato about what visitors can expect to see on the stand.

Why is ISC West an important show for you?

TD: “ISC events are a tradition for Cypress Integration Solutions. We have been exhibiting at ISC events since the 1983 ISC Show in New York City! We’re looking forward to seeing plenty of industry friends in Stand 5058 at this year’s ISC West show.

“As a manufacturer of problem-solving technology for access control professionals, it’s very  helpful for us to meet with so many of our customers and industry partners. Everyone has times when they’re stuck trying to solve problems on a worksite, so it’s pretty gratifying to hear the stories about how Cypress Integration products really came to the rescue. Along with seeing old friends, it’s rewarding to meet new people who hear about us from someone in the industry, or happen to meet us while walking the show floor and discover we have just the technology they need.”

What can visitors expect from you at the show? Why should they visit your stand?

JU: “Cypress Integration is unlike any other manufacturer you’ll see at ISC West, because we specialise in unique solutions to everyday access control challenges, as well as custom electronic solutions. One size does not fit all with standard access control systems. There is often customisation required and we are the provider of those unique solutions.

“For example, integrators and other security professionals come to us for Wiegand extenders to wirelessly connect a reader to a controller, or to connect it over twisted pair, Ethernet, or fiber; data format converters; wireless handheld readers, which make it simple to establish mustering points outside; Wiegand splitters, and Wiegand signal standardisers.”

TD: “We also have data wedges for use with both Wiegand and OSDP readers; converters to use OSDP readers with Wiegand panels; OSDP retrofit kits; our new OSDP Multiplexer/Splitter; and a range of OSDP tools including a trace tool and a COMSET tool, to use in the field or to preconfigure readers on the bench. We are now selling the entire range of quality Farpointe readers and long-range receivers, which is new for the 2024 show.”

Can we expect any announcements from you at the show?

TD: “Definitely! The OSDP Multiplexer/Splitter is something people have been asking for, and we’ll be introducing it this year. We are also excited to introduce the Wiegand signal standardiser, our OSDP retrofit kits, and the Farpointe readers we now offer. Our engineering department is supporting circuit board assembly as a service. In addition, we are making the Wireless Suprex® Wiegand Extender available at an especially affordable price-point — we found that here in the midwestern US, it costs more than 15 times as much to trench a parking lot for installing a reader, compared to using our Wireless Suprex.”

What do you feel you are offering that sets you aside from your competitors?

TD: “With all humility, I’d say if you work in access control and you’re scouring the show floor to solve a problem, there’s a good chance you’ll find it in Cypress Integratioon Solutions Stand 5058. We’ve been trusted for more than 40 years to supply the security industry with unique solutions to everyday access control challenges. All of our devices work with nearly every access control manufacturer’s products, plus our technology is reliable and lasts for many, many years. We make our products in our facility in Michigan, in the Midwest region of the US, and you can easily contact us directly with any questions and reach a real person with real answers. We are also known as the go-to company for custom electronics.”

JU: “In addition, we are not only working on today’s solutions, but we work directly with youth through the competitive FIRST robotics league to help students develop the skills and work ethic required by the industry to supply tomorrow’s solutions. All of our employees have been involved with this program in some capacity; we donate thousands of hours of volunteer time and financially support the program to ensure it thrives in our community. We literally design our company calendar around this program, and we love to share information with anyone looking for workforce development solutions.”

What are you most looking forward to at the show?

TD: “The security industry has such great people – it’s always great to see everyone at ISC West! We of course love hearing how our products save the day, and matching integrators and security professionals with just the right access control solution. Our founder has been a longtime contributor to the OSDP standard, and we are a sponsor of this year’s Interface tech event along with the SIA RISE event, so we are looking forward to seeing friends there as well.”
