Kidde Commercial unveils Optica Duct Smoke Detector at ISC West 2024

Kidde Commercial

Kidde Commercial, an industry leader in fire and life safety, has unveiled its latest innovation – the Optica Smoke Detector at this year’s ISC West, a product it claims is “the next leap forward in HVAC smoke detection.”

Uniquely designed and purposely built to address the moisture and dust challenges of the HVAC environment, the Optica Duct Detectors to deliver performance that sets a new standard for HVAC smoke detection – and reshapes the future of fire and life safety, the company claims.

Designed for one purpose: Optimal performance in HVAC applications

With a free-flowing chamber design, dual-wall construction and an anti-fog coating across the complete sensing area, the Optica Duct Detectors are designed to resist the environmental challenges of the HVAC environment, enabling greater performance and durability, Kidde Commercial says.

Fewer disruptions. Greater peace of mind

According to the company users can address false alarms at the source with patented Optica technology that uses dual wavelengths, multiple angles and detection algorithms to differentiate between nuisance particles, like cooking smoke, dust or steam, and serious threats.

Backwards compatible for easier upgrades

By using the Kidde Intelligent protocol and the same entry and exit pipe locations and dimensions as our SuperDuct Detectors, the Optica Duct Detectors ensure backwards compatibility and a simple retrofit, the company says.

Exceeding expectations – And industry requirements

Kidde Commercial has designed its new Optica Duct Detectors to exceed industry requirements for accuracy and nuisance discrimination in duct-mounted applications, ensuring confidence in your system and providing a more accurate, advanced solution for buildings.

The “bold new design” introduced at ISC West #4050 will be available starting in June 2024
