Mastercard has joined the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity’s (ENISA) Cybersecurity Partnership Programme (CPP), marking a new step in public–private collaboration to boost Europe’s digital security.
The cooperation will focus on sharing cybersecurity threats and situational awareness, with the ultimate objective of enhancing the EU’s collective resilience.
The partnership will be managed from Mastercard’s European Cyber Resilience Centre in Waterloo, Belgium, reinforcing the company’s commitment to contributing tangibly to the security of the wider digital ecosystem.
The Programme‘s objectives are to:
- Enhance preparedness and effective incident response across technical, operational, and political levels.
- Achieve common situational awareness before and during cyber incidents and crises across the Union.
- Strengthen cross-border and cross-layer cooperation by improving the exchange of information on threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
The partnership was inaugurated by Hans de Vries, ENISA’s Chief Cybersecurity and Operational Officer, and Michael Lashlee, Mastercard’s Chief Security Officer, during Mastercard’s European Threatcasting Exercise on 13 October in Waterloo, Belgium.
