OCS agrees £3.1bn acquisition of Mitie

OCS have agreed a recommended £3.1bn cash acquisition of Mitie, marking one of the most significant developments in the UK security and facilities management sector in history.

The transaction will bring together two major employers and service providers, creating a UK-headquartered business with combined annual revenues of approximately £8.5bn and a workforce of more than 219,000 people globally.

The combined organisation will unite OCS’s international facilities management operations with Mitie’s established strengths across security, engineering maintenance, hygiene, and compliance services.

According to the announcement, the group aims to strengthen its position across key sectors including government, defence, healthcare, infrastructure, and commercial markets – whilst increasing its capacity to invest in technology and data.

For the security industry, the deal reflects the continued consolidation of large-scale service providers and highlights the growing importance of integrated service delivery, technology adoption, and investment in specialist expertise.

The BSIA will continue to monitor developments and engage with members across the security and facilities management sectors to understand the implications of market consolidation, investment in innovation and the evolving needs of customers and the workforce.
