OPTEX on securing a luxury Villa in Tuscany, Italy

OPTEX

In the heart of Versilia, a popular tourist destination in Tuscany, the construction of a new luxury villa has been completed. In this exclusive setting, OPTEX says that ensuring the security of the property was a key priority for the owners, who were keen to protect their home without compromising its refined aesthetics. To meet these requirements, system integrator SEMP, based in nearby Massa, designed and implemented an advanced security system that employs various technologies and layers of protection, from the villa’s outer perimeter to the interior of the building.

The Solution

To secure the different façades of the building, a solution was needed that would satisfy both technical and aesthetic requirements. One key criteria was to use sensors capable of creating customisable detection zones within a compact footprint, in order to protect narrow and specific areas of the property.

The chosen solution involved installing 13 OPTEX REDSCAN mini sensors. These devices, based on LiDAR technology, provide highly accurate and reliable detection, offering a coverage area of 20 x 20 metres at 95 degrees, as well as a high degree of customisation and integration. The sensors were strategically positioned along the façades of the villa, creating an invisible yet highly effective protection system, even in complete darkness.

Another notable benefit of the REDSCAN Mini was its discrete design and customisation potential: to seamlessly blend with the villa’s architecture, the sensors were painted in the same colour as the corresponding walls, becoming a harmonious part of the building’s structure.

Advanced technology and integration

The decision to use REDSCAN mini was based on several factors:

Precise Detection: Thanks to LiDAR technology, the sensors offer extremely accurate monitoring, ideal for securing narrow perimeters such as the façades of a villa. The REDSCAN mini can be configured into four zones, with advanced settings allowing for precise adjustment and targeted area detection. The configuration software, REDSCAN Manager, enables detailed detection settings, including the shape and size of each individual zone.

Versatile Integration: REDSCAN mini sensors support integration with existing security systems through HTTP-based network modules, allowing seamless communication with other devices.

Aesthetic Adaptability: Beyond performance, the sensors met the need for visual discretion, a crucial element in the luxury setting and design.

Results and benefits

Thanks to this implementation, the villa is now protected by a security system that is:

  • Efficient: The sensors provide 24/7 façade protection, minimising false alarms.
  • Aesthetically Integrated: The customised design allowed the devices to blend into the architecture without detracting from the elegance of the exterior.
  • Flexible and Scalable: The system can be easily updated or expanded due to its compatibility with other technologies.

Conclusion

This project showcases how OPTEX’s advanced technology, combined with the expertise of an experienced integrator like SEMP, can deliver tailored security solutions that meet both aesthetic and functional demands in luxury environments. The result is a villa protected by a cutting-edge, discrete, yet highly effective security system.
