Seacoast Security launches new scholarship program

Seacoast Security, Inc. has launched a new scholarship program to help fund further education in the skilled trades. Two $1,000 scholarships will be offered to students pursuing a career in the trades later this year, based in Rockport, Maine.

According to The Association of General Construction survey in 2020, 72% of companies surveyed said that worker shortages were one of their biggest challenges. Recognising this shortage of skilled tradesmen, Seacoast Security is taking proactive steps to encourage more young people to enter these fields and pursue fulfilling careers here in New England.

“Hiring skilled workers is always one of our biggest challenges,” said Karma O’Donal, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Seacoast Security, Inc. “Like many companies here in Maine, we need skilled tradesmen to complete our work and take care of our customers effectively. We are hopeful that this scholarship program will encourage more young people, and those looking for a new career, to consider the trades and pursue education in these fields.”

The scholarship application deadline is April 30, after which the Seacoast Security scholarship committee will review all applications and announce the winners early in May of 2021.

“As a company that relies on skilled workers, we are committed to helping students enter the workforce with the skills to build a great career in the trades,” said Stephen Haynes, Vice President of Seacoast Security, Inc. “We are hopeful that more companies will join us to promote similar programs and bring more attention and accessibility to pursuing these careers. Seacoast Security relies on our ability to provide quality work with state-of-the art technology, and we need more people with the skills necessary to perform these jobs.”
