According to the British Retail Consortium’s most recent Crime Survey, launched earlier this year, there has been a “surge in violence and abuse, up from almost 870 cases per day, to a staggering 1,300, Helen Dickinson, Chief Executive of the organisation notes. She adds that shoplifting has also soared “to unprecedented levels”, with losses to retailers doubling in the last year to £1.8 billion. So, in the most recent Security Breakdown podcast from Smoke Screen, hosts Matt Gilmartin and Jack Cunnington tackle the pressing issue – the real impact of retail crime on workers.
This is all ahead of Smoke Screen‘s appearance at the upcoming Retail Risk event in Leicester on Thursday, October 3, where Gilmartin will join a round table to discuss how we can create a unified approach to support retail workers.
