The big interview – Peter Poole, The Security Event

The Security Event

With The Security Event taking place at the NEC in Birmingham between April 25-27, Security on Screen caught up with Peter Poole, Sales Director of TSE, who spoke to us about what’s different this year, what some of the key highlights are and why you should get involved

What makes The Security Event different and why would someone attend?

Different to last year or different to other security shows?  Let me address both!

TSE 2023 is nearly 60% larger than 2022 and soon to welcome 300+ global leading manufacturers and suppliers, including over 100 new exhibiting companies.

In addition, we are launching Professional Security Officer Live as the UK’s only dedicated event for front-line security professionals and on top of that we are delighted to welcome the co-located return of the National Cyber Security Show.

I’ll nail my colours to the mast in that there isn’t another ‘trade-show’ in the UK that has seen so such demand and growth in the last year. Specifically in the security trade show space, TSE continues to out-strip any other occasion on so many levels. Inside only three previous editions, TSE has become the major UK destination for security professionals.

Currently as we speak, our pre-registration tickets continue to maintain an increase of over 60% YOY and we are also delighted to recognise a significant interest from international visitors as TSE emerges on the global stage in becoming a major international security show brand!

That leads us on nicely as to why should someone attend, the biggest security show in the UK, so many global leading manufacturers and suppliers, top quality products, new-tech being launched, all your favourite brands – trust me, it’s your best day/s out of the year for your business! Check out our online exhibitor list, it’s uniquely packed with sheer quality.

You’re also going to have so many industry friends attending that will certainly add to your enjoyment and mutually it will provide visitors with those very unique opportunities to learn from each other and to make new friends!

To summarise, TSE offers exceptional value to both the exhibitor and visitor, it is more than just a tradeshow, it is the annual focal point and primary hub for the UK security community!

It’s a show for everyone, located in the heart of the country and once a year the entire UK security community come together in their thousands.

What are the highlights of this years seminar program?

It’s so hard to pick a highlight – our entire seminar programmes are absolutely jam-packed and we are hugely grateful to all those contributing and giving up their time to share their insight and knowledge with the wider security community.

In total we have five educational zones, Security in Practice, Designing Out Crime, Tavcom Training Classroom & Workshop, Professional Security Officer Live Conference and the Access Control Executive Brief Theatre.

We have so many keynote experts who will offer insight and knowledge that will fuel discussion and debate from all attendees as we strive for greater improvements and efficiencies.

Personally I am looking forward to experiencing the Access Control Executive Brief Theatre and the Professional Security Officer Live Conference and with so much original content from so many formidable speakers we’re thrilled that TSE has become their main stage! Don’t forget CPD points are available courtesy of our show partner The Security Institute.

The event is co-located with additional events – can you expand out on these please?

Sure, TSE forms an integral part of the entire series, namely The Safety & Security Series, but also including the co-located Fire Safety Event, Health & Safety Event, The Workplace Event as well as Professional Security Officer Live and the National Cyber Security Show.

In the main, these respective shows have also followed the same path as TSE, becoming the major showpieces in their respective sectors.

Mirroring TSE, both the Fire Safety Event and Health & Safety Event have respectively become the biggest shows ever to take place in the UK in their respective sectors.

There are great synergies between security, fire, health & safety, workplaces and cyber that so many of our visitors naturally have an interest in a number of these sectors and the ability to attend a series of shows where they can access their entire industry is hugely rewarding! And just as a brief reminder, irrespective of which show you have registered for, you get the seamless access to all.

What would you say to someone who isn’t sure about making the trip to Birmingham?

Best show, best exhibitors, best UK venue, most visitors, most rewarding, most fun.  It’s one/two day max out of your entire year, it’s an experience you’ll thoroughly enjoy and see great value from!

The show is buzzing all day with so much going on and if you get the chance to stay over, on an evening you wont be short of choices to go to downtown Birmingham where you’ll find networking events all over town.
