The Security Event 2024 interview – HID

HID

HID is a brand that promises to power the trusted identities of the world’s people, places and things, allowing people to transact safely, work productively and travel freely. It is also part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, and will occupy stands 5/F40 and 5/J140C at this year’s Security Event. In this exclusive interview, Gerald Grattoni, VP, Head of Mature Markets, Physical Access Control, offers an insight on what visitors will be able to see on the stand, including the HID FARGO® HDP6600 – said to be the industry’s fastest retransfer printer.

Why is TSE an important show for you?

GG: “HID is excited to be part of The Security Event this year, and as a leading provider of trusted access solutions, it offers a great opportunity for us to showcase our latest technologies and engage with industry leaders and potential customers. We look forward to sharing our expertise and learning from the insights of security professionals in Europe.”

What can visitors expect from you at the show? Why should they visit your stand?

GG: “Visitors to stand 5/F40 can expect hands-on interaction with our Mobile Access Platform, showcasing how using smartphones or wearables for access is both intuitive and highly secure. From a secure issuance perspective, visitors will be able to see the HID FARGO® HDP6600 in use, the industry’s fastest retransfer printer, as well as the HID FARGO Connect, our cloud-based secure issuance solution incorporating the latest new cost-saving integrations with university One Card, and other trusted access control solutions.”

Can we expect any announcements from you at the show?

GG: “We’ve recently announced the availability of employee badges in Google Wallet, so stand visitors will be able to see how the digital wallet integration works, whether it’s in an iOS or Android system. Understanding how modern mobile credential works will help security professionals better understand the benefits related to operational efficiencies, user satisfaction and sustainability.

“Additionally, we will demonstrate how advanced physical access control at a competitive cost is possible for small- to medium-sized organisations. The new HID Seos® Essentials Bundle will provide smaller businesses in Europe with the benefits of advanced access control in an all-in-one packaged solution that simplifies installation and deployment.”

What do you feel you are offering that sets you aside from your competitors?

GG: “With our 30-year track record in the industry, our solutions meet the most stringent industry standards, offering our customers and end-users unparalleled peace of mind. Being a trusted partner for European businesses and organisations worldwide, our solutions have been rigorously tested and implemented in countless successful deployments, demonstrating their reliability and effectiveness. The past couple of years have been particular exciting in Europe, for example, where there are several successful employee badges in digital wallet deployments in the region, including in the Light Bulb building in South West London, in a partnership with Smart Spaces, and at British Land’s Broadgate, 100 Liverpool Street office building in London, in a partnership with SwiftConnect.”

What are you most looking forward to at the show?

GG: “Beyond demonstrating the benefits of mobile access in real time, which is something our experts love to do, we are thrilled to be able to connect with the regional security community – customers, end-users, and experts alike. These interactions provide invaluable feedback on evolving security needs and pain points, and ultimately fuel the future innovations from our product developers and engineers.”
