The Security Event (TSE) 2026 – From the show floor with Reconeyez

Jeremy Malies visited the Reconeyez (Powered by VOSKER) stand at The Security Event (28-30 April) and interviewed marketing director Andy Keeley, who gave him some insight into the company’s latest products being showcased on the stand.

“Vendors and manufacturers demonstrating the robust nature of PIR systems, particularly their value at sites with little or no infrastructure, had impressive offerings at the show.

“Notable among these was Reconeyez (Powered by VOSKER) who attracted interest when demonstrating their autonomous intruder detection solutions with AI visual verification.

“Andy Keeley spoke about alerting on intruders (both malevolent and unwitting) in order to deter and alarm on theft, vandalism and accidents. Andy’s background with several premium vendors means he is adept at advising and protecting end-users who may be reliant on battery power (and notably solar) at remote locations with harsh conditions where scope for cabling is limited.

I asked Andy to take me through a simple scenario, explaining the chain of events and actions.

Typically, a Reconeyez PIR detector on a high-definition streaming security camera will detect movement where it is not expected. An image is taken and sent to the Cloud where it is analyzed by the company’s proprietary object detection and classification algorithms. Multi-frequency radio transceivers connect detectors with a command or alarm receiving centre (ARC) so creating two-way communication.

Depending on the analysis, an alarm is verified and triggered on site with an appropriate response team being sent if required. Obviously not prone to hyperbole and precise in everything he says, Andy mentions that batteries on the PIR detectors can last up to 400 days. Even with infrequent visits by engineers, this is infinite for all reasonable purposes. Site visits are also minimized through design that allows for remote configuration and management meaning that visits can be infrequent after initial installation.

“Andy mentions that often coming from the utilities (notably water) and even military spheres as well as border control, clients do have significant budgets so that they can endeavour to factor out all risk. But we live in an age when everybody is cost-conscious. Reconeyez can deliver rapid return on investment (RoI) and low total cost of ownership.

“Reconeyez prides itself on outstanding algorithms that minimize the number of false positives. Sadly, as society tries to reduce carbon footprint and use of fossil fuels by having solar farms provide increasing amounts of power to the grid, thieves are active in stealing not just cabling but the steel frames that contain the panels. As a company that has been acquired by Quebec-based VOSKER, Reconeyez is adept at protecting sprawling sites on large tracts of land.

“Always looking for trends in the industry, I noted something that chimed with other developments. Just as I can now talk to Google and other search engines in idiomatic language, the Reconeyez AI allows users to ask questions in everyday terms. “Show me people wearing balaclavas and carrying bolt cutters” or “Show me people on my construction site who are not wearing a hardhat or fluorescent jacket” are now firmly in the realm of viable interrogation modes.

“Andy directed my attention to one of the company’s Sentinel autonomous security towers whose wide-area coverage allows it to detect threats at up to 70 meters. Solar-powered, these are largely self-sustaining and can be configured to the needs of just about every customer across many industries.  Eavesdropping (but remaining discreet!) it was obvious to me that visitors to the stand at The Security Event were asking Reconeyez about possible deployments in verticals that had not been envisaged to date but where the products will be a good fit. This shows the success of The Security Event in uniting end-user stakeholders with innovative vendors and it bodes well for 2027.”
