TDSi is at The Security Event (Hall 5 G60) with fellow Vitaprotech group companies Harper Chalice and Hirsch. Security on Screen spoke to Nick Mercer (Marketing, Brand & Design at TDSi) and Steven Humphreys (formerly with Hirsch and now Deputy CEO at Vitaprotech).
As a new combined force, the companies told us that they are focused on major enterprise and mission-critical deployments where their joint offering can minimise or factor out security threats.
Both company representatives stressed the potential for integrated solutions drawing on the expertise across the group. Applications span everything from central government to military, naval, utilities, aerospace, medical and high-tier custodial.

Humphreys highlighted the synergy between TDSi’s access control hardware & software and Hirsch’s own access control capabilities along with surveillance, video analytics, security monitoring and command & control. He dwelt on how easy the product suites of both companies are to deploy – both for integrators or for a client’s own engineers if the site is particularly sensitive.
At the earliest stage of project design, consultants will also appreciate the scope that this new combined suite will give them. There is no longer a need to go to, perhaps, three different vendors.
As end-user sites become more complex and with many organisations (education and commerce) having multi-site campus layouts, it’s crucial to use manufacturers with the broadest offering that can accommodate clients as they scale up. In education, it’s an inescapable fact that there must be communication between the widest range of systems in the event of an active shooter event.
Humphreys and Mercer are enthused by the potential of the newly launched GARDiS v3 Software as well as TDSi’s Command + Control PSIM solution. These are complemented by the perimeter protection capabilities of Harper Chalice, another Vitaprotech company. Custodial environments will become an an important vertical market. If there is a theme running through the joint offerings, it’s visibility – presenting managers with the best possible aggregated information with which to assess a threat and make decisions.
As with many exhibitors, the TDSi, Hirsch and Harper Chalice combination that we saw is focused on perhaps the most potent threat to organisations, the rogue insider or disaffected former employee.
Humphreys pointed to how robust and high-functioning Harper Chalice products are in mitigating such threats. He reminded us that emergencies can also be chemical and he spoke about mustering or head-counting as a building is evacuated.
Observing the way that staff on the stand spoke to visitors about their precise needs, we were reminded that above all, companies within Vitaprotech are customer-facing and that will continue as new products are developed.
