“Intelligence-led” solutions is a strapline for DeterTech, as Security on Screen’s roving reporter Jeremy Malies found out on the company’s stand at The Security Event (TSE) 2026. But this intelligence is both human and machine-learning – always an appropriate mixture. DeterTech employs many ex-police (across all the services) with high levels of expertise in predicting and evaluating behaviour.
“The original pioneers of intruder technology” is another slogan used by DeterTech whose site security offerings extend across construction, retail, and rail. Security on Screen’s time at the DeterTech stand began with a discussion of how the company’s experts on perimeter protection might proceed with a new customer.
Naturally, there is always an in-depth risk assessment of the site. Nothing is ever simply prescribed; staff look at clients on a case-by-case basis. One consideration can be incidence of intruders who have no malicious intent – perhaps a walker who has become disorientated or a child or even wildlife. DeterTech always discriminates intelligently, and frequently the offering is a combination of mechanized product and focused service from staff members.
Customers can opt for being notified of incidents themselves or having notifications sent to DeterTech’s own Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) staffed by SIA-approved professionals. Incidents are assessed and escalated where necessary including notifications to local police using an agreed-upon protocol and communication with the client’s site manager. DeterTech claim the quickest response time in our sector, this being 47 seconds between verification and escalation with the actual figure usually even quicker.
DeterTech make informed use of regional crime data to evaluate a site’s likely needs. Installation is typically within 72 hours. The company’s focus has been on the UK but there are now expanding European capabilities particularly in Germany and Scandinavia.
Prominent on the stand is the PID360, the clue being in the name. This is a 360-degree product HD camera surveillance unit that also uses motion detection and thermal imaging to identify and alarm on actual, perceived, and potential threats. The built-in 4G connectivity with outstanding telemetry combine to provide alerts, video streams and status updates. The PID360 has batteries that, on a single charge, will last for 18 months and often up to four years. It is therefore ideal for isolated locations.

Mindful of other exhibitors (good corporate citizenship!) DeterTech are not demonstrating the PID360 in alarm mode. Having detected a threat, it reacts with audio warnings (strident siren sounds) as well as “speaking” to the actual or perceived intruder in an accent that reminds people of the unique vowel shifts heard in … Belfast! (“In-yer-face” is the phrase used by one DeterTech spokesperson.) No fewer than 10,000 units have been deployed to date in the UK. Deterring electrical substation break-ins and reducing cable theft for a railway line are among the major successes.
As with several other exhibitors at The Security Event, DeterTech mentions solar power farms as an area of operation and likely take-up from new customers. And DeterTech rightly regard themselves as thought leaders and exponents of best practice in this important niche which can also be treated as part of a wider vertical sector that includes battery storage sites and onshore wind projects as our energy landscape reshapes.
Trespass and theft – often by highly organized crime networks – are vital challenges and it is a given that such facilities will usually be in remote or semi-rural areas. The presence of high-value materials such as copper cabling and inverters proves attractive to thieves.
Looking at other case studies, one realizes that types of usage are limited only by the imagination and foresight of DeterTech marketing staff and end-users themselves. An unusual recent case study for the PID360 has been at mobile medical scanning/imaging units for a health company who found the units were more vigilant than traditional manned guarding. The locations for the scanning units have been hospital grounds and even supermarket carparks.
Case studies vary from major construction projects to world heritage sites featuring priceless artefacts. End-users of all kinds entrust these products to protect an array of locations and premises.
For this stand visit at the exhibition, Security on Screen chose to focus on site security. DeterTech is also renowned for crime intelligence and forensic marking. The company is data-driven as well as technology-driven while also employing some of the best behavioural analysts across the security industry. It’s a comprehensive and cohesive offering.
