The Security Event (TSE) 2026 – From the show floor with Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls

At The Security Event (TSE) this year, our roving reporter at the show, Jeremy Malies, visited the Johnson Controls stand, where he observed a major product offering, and also reflects on a US case study.

Giving clients flexibility in securing the widest range of premises with flexible, intuitive technology was a theme that ran across The Security Event. Johnson Controls excel at this with their intrusion detection portfolio, notably the IQ Panels range.

The stand featured the IQ Panel 4 set of products which are all-in-one, wireless smart home and security systems. They are aimed at small businesses and domestic users.

The IQ Panel 4 transcends security and is a genuinely smart home solution. Its camera is 8 MP and the lens is wide-angle (120 degrees) offering a broad view of scenes. There are three microphones with echo cancellation, two-way voice and a built-in glass break detector as well as  panel motion and a compatible IQ base with QuadSound speakers.

The stand underlined a theme at The Security Event. End-users insist on quality, but all parties are budget-conscious. The IQ4 HUB will appeal to price-aware users but it is a product that does not compromise. Like the IQ Panel 4, it has a built-in touch screen and offers control of automation devices with a photo frame screensaver.

Customers needing or simply preferring for aesthetic reasons a smaller, sleeker panel may opt for the IQ4 NS. The panels offer all the benefits that come with PowerManage integration, this being the service management platform that streamlines installation, monitoring, management and control. PowerManage makes these processes cohesive. There are options for local or Cloud-based installation. Intuitive mobile app capabilities, remote access and Bluetooth disarming are all valuable features.

PowerManage shows Johnson Controls continuing its commitment to interoperability with the widest possible scope for integration and minimal reliance on vendor-specific technologies.

An impressive portfolio of IQ Panel 4 case studies includes retail usage at clothing stores in Utah. The customer, Mr Mac, has three stores offering formal and business apparel. It opted for the Johnson Controls offering because the legacy system was providing limited supervision and management of employee activity. It is significant that the Johnson Controls products allowed the client to move away from external monitoring by a third party. The customer now benefits from instant notification of incidents that warrant attention.

In an illustration of how these products can be scaled up, it should be noted that the Mr Mac company proprietor opted for IQ Panel 4 in the business premises after having used it in his own home. IQ Panel 4 has been used as the control centre at the clothing stores with IQ Remote panels offering expanded control across the site. Mr Mac’s owner and senior staff can now view each store’s cameras and receive real-time notifications to phones or computers.
