Fire and Security Matters Awards 2024

The winners for the Fire and Security Matters Awards 2024 have been announced, with Security on Screen vendor members ASSA ABLOY, HID, Pyronix, OPTEX and i-PRO among those receiving awards or commendations.

Organised in conjunction with Western Business Media’s B2B magazines Security Matters and Fire Safety Matters, this year’s Fire and Security Matters Awards received more than 320 entries, and the evening was hosted by comedian Jason Manford.

The award for Security Innovation of the Year went to ASSA ABLOY for its ABLOY CUMULUS, while Pyronix’s CarDefender product was Highly Commended and OPTEX’s REDSCAN mini-pro was Commended. The judges commented: “The nomination for ASSA ABLOY’s Cumulus product described their API first design methodology which has resulted in a consistency of design and operation. The removal of the need for physical key management and use of BLE makes this product deserving of the award.”

HID and i-PRO were Highly Commended and Commended respectively, in the category of Security Manufacturer of the Year, while the winner of the Security Guarding Company of the Year was Mitie. Runners up in that category were Corps Security and Unitrust Protection Services UK.

Security Installation Company of the Year, sponsored by Hikvision, went to Marlowe Fire and Security, Security/Risk Manager of the Year, sponsored by ISRM, went to Leigh Harper at Cundall, and Security Team of the Year, sponsored by Texecom, went to Umbra International.

Security Project of the Year was bagged by Mitie Fire & Security Systems, and Hanwha Vision Europe was Highly Commended.

Security Industry Woman of the Year went to Kim Brechin – SecuriGroup Ltd. On this award, judges commented: “Kim is a worthy winner with a decade of experience across all aspects of the security industry. Kim shares her knowledge with her all-female team, working towards greater equality in the industry.”

Security Campaign of the Year was awarded to Galliford Try Asset Intelligence, and HID was Highly Commended. The company Running on Empty was the third runner up.

Mike Bluestone, Executive Director for Corps Consult, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fire and Security Matters Awards.

Acknowledging this remarkable achievement, Paul Lotter, Managing Director said in a press release: ‘Michael’s dedication to the field is exceptional. This accolade reflects his consistent commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership. It is very much deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder’

The award came as a complete surprise to Bluestone, who was unaware he had been nominated, he said: “I am deeply honoured to have received this award. I have had so many amazing opportunities and experiences that have led to this moment, and I am grateful for the support and collaboration of my colleagues along the way.”
