DUBAI POLICE

Dubai Police has officially started participating in “GITEX Global 2024” (October 14 – 18) at the Dubai World Trade Centre, showcasing its innovative digital services and latest policing advancements utilising artificial intelligence (AI).

Major General Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, Director of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence, highlighted that Dubai Police‘s participation at GITEX reflects its ongoing efforts, directed by His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, to present cutting-edge policing technologies that enhance public safety and well-being. He emphasised the importance of these innovations in improving public access to police services in a user-friendly and efficient manner.

Dubai Police’s platform at the event features 12 innovative AI-driven services designed to strengthen community engagement and facilitate seamless access to services. “Visitors can explore these technological advancements and gain insight into the latest security and law enforcement developments,” Al Razooqi explained.

Multilingual “Amna” Officer

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the unveiling of the newly enhanced virtual officer “Amna,” now upgraded with AI capabilities. Officer Amna can communicate with the public in seven languages, including Arabic, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, and German, expanding her previous bilingual capabilities.

Samer Al Khawaja, Information Specialist at the General Department of Artificial Intelligence, explained that Officer Amna is accessible via the Dubai Police website.

“Amna assists the public with various police services, such as paying traffic fines and submitting reports,” Al Khawaja said.

With the integration of AI, Amna can now handle transactions and respond to queries using voice commands, providing a more interactive experience. The General Department of Artificial Intelligence developed this AI system in-house in collaboration with other departments aiming to transition services into voice-activated systems.

AI-Powered “Digital Officer” for Tourist Police

Dubai Police also revealed the upcoming “Digital Officer for Tourist Police,” which will use AI technology to assist tourists with enquiries and complaints. This digital officer will enable tourists to ask questions and report issues directly through a smart interface.

Lieutenant Ahmad Nasser Al Zari from the Tourist Police Department explained that the “Digital Officer” is an AI-powered system that interacts with tourists, addressing their concerns. The system gathers the relevant information and forwards it to the appropriate authorities for immediate action, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for tourists seeking assistance.
