With its unparalleled educational programme and exceptional networking, ASIS Europe – From Risk to Resilience attracted a recording breaking 1,070 registrants from more than 50 countries to Dublin, Ireland on 4-6 March.
Focusing on the vital role security leaders play in supporting business objectives, and examining physical, human and cyber security risks, the conference provided a multi-format learning experience.
Conference co-chair Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability and Security Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, explained the concept. “In an era of geopolitical uncertainty, security leaders are called to do more than respond -we must anticipate. Our conference programme highlighted the importance of resilience-building, scenario planning, and aligning security strategies to not only navigate risks but also unlock strategic opportunities for the companies we serve.”
Another key theme addressed was technology innovation and its implications as both an opportunity and risk.
Fellow co-chair Gavin Henderson, Vice President of Cybersecurity Innovation, Strategy & Outreach, Mastercard, added: “In a world driven by innovation it is important to stay up to date – and learn from trusted sources. We designed the event to help security professionals from all backgrounds keep their organisations safe during a time of rapid technological changes.”
With this in mind, there was no better-qualified opening keynote than Ed McLaughlin, President and Chief Technology Officer, Mastercard. McLaughlin highlighted the role technology innovation plays across the interconnected themes of speed, society, trust and security.
Following his keynote, a conversation with the conference co-chairs took a deeper look at how companies and their workforces must adapt to maximise the opportunities rapidly evolving technology provides.
The second plenary session witnessed an exceptional exchange of views among top security leaders: Florian Haacke, CSO and Head of Group Security, Porsche AG; Sam Roper, Director, Enterprise Security EMEA, Netflix; Michael Lashlee, CISSP, Chief Security Officer, Mastercard; and Justin Crump, Founder and CEO, Sibylline.
This candid discussion was peppered with insights – from leveraging crises as an opportunity, highlighting the importance of a converged, 360° security approach and the vital role preparedness exercises play in resilience – the complexity of security leadership today was laid bare.
In total, more than fifty educational sessions took place across two days, with five stages in action and a host of different session formats to ensure a vibrant learning experience with many interactive elements.
The richness of the programme and the “who’s who” of speakers, participants and organisations represented further established ASIS Europe as Europe’s critical gathering for established and aspiring security leaders from across the region and beyond.
ASIS’ commitments to the future of the profession and the security talent pipeline were also highlighted with the NextGen community leading the closing session with an interactive debate on security career pathways.
Networking and partnership development is the other key component of the event. Onsite networking was based around a buzzing exhibition area where 50 exhibitors participated, including headline sponsors Dataminr, Nedap, AlertMedia, Securitas, Genetec, Dragonfly and Sibylline.
The exhibition gathered some of the most innovative companies in security technology, risk intelligence, and crisis management, offering solutions designed to protect organizations in an increasingly complex threat landscape, ranging from cutting-edge AI-driven security solutions to next-generation geopolitical risk and travel security technologies.
In addition to extensive onsite networking was an unforgettable dinner at the iconic Guinness Storehouse.
The next ASIS Europe will take place in Antwerp, Belgium on 23-25 March 2025.
