Behavioural Analysis 2025

Organisers of Behavioural Analysis 2025, taking place at the Mall of America, Minneapolis, from June 24-25 has released further details of the event, including the full programme and speakers.

The three-day conference presents examples of operational best practice, alongside the latest academic research, exploring how negative intent and potential security threats can be identified through behavioural observation, human intuition, and, investigative interviewing.

Keynote addresses will bookend the event, the opening keynote to be delivered by Karie Gibson of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. It will provide insight as to how the US law enforcement community is embracing behaviour detection within its operations.

The conference’s concluding keynote focusses on the behavioural detection lessons learned from the Columbine High School Massacre. It will be delivered by Rick Kaufman – one of the first to arrive on scene on that tragic day back in April 1999, providing emergency triage and rescue operations before assuming co-leadership of the Columbine Crisis Response Team.

The opening session also includes two presentations designed as important reminders.

Firstly, behaviour detection is not only about addressing the terrorist threat. Illustrating this, the Department of Homeland Security’s Maraya C. Lasinsky will, alongside Douglas O’Mara representing the Global Elite Group, introduce delegates to the Blue Campaign, a national human trafficking public awareness programme reliant on public-private partnerships.

And, secondly, security is not solely the responsibility of those for whom the word ‘security’ is in their job title. Mark Herrera, the Director of Safety & Security for the International Association of Venue Managers and recognised among the top 25 most influential figures in the meetings and events industry, focuses on the creation of diverse teams to create a safety, security, and a culture of heightened awareness.

Also in the initial proceedings, Philip Baum, the founder and chair of the Behavioural Analysis series of conferences, will be welcoming delegates to the 7th international conference on tactical risk assessment and non-racial profiling. Will Bernhjelm, Vice President of Security at Mall of America® – the venue for the 2025 edition – will be sharing details of the evolution of the security strategy at the Mall.
