The Institute of Strategic Risk Management, (ISRM) has announced its latest Global Crisis Watch sessions, numbers 325 and 326, both taking place this coming Friday, April 4 at 10am BST, and then at 5pm BST and 12pm EDT. This week, the sessions will delve deep into shifting global challenges and their influence on international affairs, all outlined briefly below.
Last week, the US mediated separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia to halt Black Sea and energy attacks, marking a rare diplomatic breakthrough. However, ongoing drone strikes and Russiaās demand for sanctions relief cast doubt on its viability.
A major White House security breach emerged last week when journalist Jeffrey Goldberg was mistakenly added to a Signal chat where top US officials discussed military operations. The leak sparked bipartisan scrutiny, though Trump dismissed it as a glitch.
Last week also saw Chinaās latest military developmentsāamphibious landing barges and deep-sea cable cuttersāraising fears of a Taiwan invasion.
Meanwhile, a US visit to Greenland reignited tensions, with Denmark condemning American pressure and protests erupting locally.
Trump escalated economic tensions last week by imposing a 25% tariff on Venezuelan oil buyers, primarily targeting China. At the same time, a US-backed crackdown shut down the DariƩn migration route, forcing thousands to return home.
From fragile ceasefires to rising geopolitical and economic tensions, last week highlighted global instability and shifting power dynamics.
All this and other topics will be discussed at this week’s Global Crisis Watches
