Employees of the technology manufacturer, Paxton, raised £9,150 for charity initiatives last year, supporting mental health charity Mind in Brighton & Hove and DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Paxton’s Project & Events Manager, Kate Hotson, said: “It means a lot to us at Paxton to support our local community and causes that are close to our hearts. We know that to help make real change happen, we need to consistently reach out year after year and offer support. Last year, the Paxton team voted to support Mind in Brighton & Hove. The pandemic changed everyone’s lives but brought us together through shared experiences. Mental health is just as important as physical for our overall wellbeing, and we wanted to support this important charity whilst raising awareness about mental health issues at work.”

Mind in Brighton & Hove works to promote good mental health locally and across Sussex. Their mission is to provide a range of advice and information, advocacy and support services to empower anyone experiencing a mental health issue to live a full life and play a full part in society. The charity supported 6,223 people across the county of Sussex during 2021-2022.

Gillian Unsworth, CEO of Mind in Brighton and Hove, said: “We are truly grateful for Paxton’s support in 2022. Raising funds is increasingly difficult for small, local charities like us.

“Engagement with fundraising support from businesses or organisations like Paxton not only helps maintain and develop the services we offer to local community, but it helps the organisation raise awareness, improve understanding and promote good mental health.”

Kate adds: “We want to create an innovative environment that is not just about work and developing meaningful initiatives that resonate with our people is part of what makes Paxton a caring and conscious workplace.”

Additionally to their work with Mind in Brighton & Hove, Paxton employees rallied to support Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Kate said: “When the Ukraine war broke out, all of our UK and international employees were concerned about the situation and wanted to help the people in Ukraine.

“Our teams fundraised £4,751 and donated over 20 boxes of supplies to support people affected by the war in Ukraine in as many ways as we could. We are really happy about the efforts that our teams had put forward and being able to take part in the appeal.”

The technology company is currently in the voting process to pick a new charity to work with this year, and on more global charitable initiatives. Kate thanks everyone involved: “We wouldn’t have been able to achieve these results without our people’s support. I cannot wait to see who we will be supporting this year, and to host fundraising activities all over again.”
