With home and remote working becoming more prevalent since the COVID-19 pandemic, leading safety and risk management solutions provider, Safeture, has published a whitepaper on the evolution of remote working, which details how trends have shifted between 2022, when people began to return to ‘normal’ or more regular working as lockdowns lifted, and this year.

According to Safeture, the rise of remote work since 2022 has revolutionised the global workforce, with 34% of employees working remotely, mainly in hybrid models. By 2024, however, remote work plateaued as companies, particularly in tech and finance, pushed for partial returns to the office. Still, almost a third of all workers maintained hybrid schedules, highlighting the enduring demand for flexibility. Europe led with over 50% of workers going remote, while Asia lagged due to cultural barriers. Remote work boosted productivity and employee happiness but challenged team collaboration and mental health.

This new white paper offers essential insights into the evolving dynamics of remote work, highlighting trends and challenges across industries and regions. Understanding how remote work impacts productivity, employee well-being, and collaboration is crucial as businesses and workers adapt to new working models. It provides valuable context for anyone navigating the future of flexible work arrangements.
