Secure Logiq’s Around the Equator Challenge has officially crossed the finish line (and then some) with participants collectively reaching 160% of the original target.
Launched on Valentine’s Day and running through to May, the challenge invited employees, partners and industry peers to walk, run, cycle and row their way around the globe together, with every kilometre contributing towards a shared goal of travelling the full circumference of the Earth: 40,075 kilometres.
By the end of the challenge, participants had collectively recorded more than 90 million steps, covering the equivalent of one and a half journeys around the world. Powered by the Big Team Challenge platform, the initiative brought together activity logged from smart watches, fitness apps, gym sessions and everyday exercise routines, creating a sense of momentum, friendly competition and shared wellbeing across the Secure Logiq community.
The challenge also raised funds for two causes close to the Secure Logiq team: ShelterBox and Enfield Ignatians Rugby Club through the Lucas Yoxall Memorial Fund. Established in memory of Managing Director Ben Yoxall’s brother, Lucas, the fund supports the rugby club that played such an important role in his life. Donations remain open following the completion of the challenge, helping to extend the impact of the initiative beyond the finish line.
“The response to the Around the Equator Challenge has honestly been amazing,” said Ben Yoxall of Secure Logiq. “What started as a fun way to encourage movement and wellbeing quickly became something much bigger. People really got behind it, supported each other and pushed themselves further than expected. Reaching 160% of the target is an incredible achievement.”
Throughout the challenge, participants formed teams, tracked their progress on live leaderboards and contributed towards a collective global journey that steadily gathered pace over the course of the campaign.
“We wanted to create something that encouraged people to step away from their desks, get moving and feel part of something together,” continued Yoxall. “Whether someone contributed five kilometres or five hundred, every single activity counted towards the final result. The level of engagement, positivity and support throughout the challenge has been fantastic to see. Seeing so many people get involved, while also supporting causes that mean a great deal to us personally, has been incredibly special.”
Donations are continuing to support both ShelterBox and the Lucas Yoxall Memorial Fund through Enfield Ignatians Rugby Club.
