Dubai Police and Ministry of Interior of Kuwait discuss cooperation in forensics

The International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS) at the General Department of Forensics and Criminology in Dubai Police received a delegation from the Ministry of Interior of the sisterly State of Kuwait. The visit aimed to explore forensic science, focusing on key scientific disciplines and initiatives, while fostering communication and exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices in policing.

His Excellency Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalaita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, warmly welcomed the Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Lt. Col. Janet Al Rasheed, Head of the Technical Supply Section, in the presence of Lt. Col. Expert Dr. Rashid Al Ghafri, Deputy Director of the General Department of Forensics and Criminology for Administrative Affairs, and several senior officers from both sides.

Work Mechanism

Bin Ghalita provided the delegation with a comprehensive overview of the various departments and sections within the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology. He explained their operations and highlighted the ‘Athar’ platform, which aims to ensure complete confidentiality in handling crime-related items and facilitates an electronic connection between responsible experts, police stations, and local authorities,” he continued.

Bin Ghalita also emphasized Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to investing in personnel since the laboratory’s inception and implementing strategic plans designed to attract and support cadres in obtaining specialized academic qualifications in all areas related to forensic evidence.

The delegation also received a comprehensive explanation of best practices, experiences, initiatives, updates, and ongoing projects related to forensic science at the General Department of Forensics and Criminology. This included key research and scientific publications that enhance knowledge in policing and science.

Research

They also explored the role of the ICFS in advancing research on forensic evidence at regional and international levels. They learned about the center’s training courses and its involvement in global events across various scientific disciplines related to forensic evidence.

Additionally, the Kuwaiti delegation learned about the World Police Summit 2025 (WPS), organized by Dubai Police, which gathers police leaders, law enforcement agencies, and specialized experts from the policing and security sectors, along with professionals from other relevant fields, to foster discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of expertise, ultimately working towards more integrated efforts and objectives for safer and more secure communities.

At the end of their visit, the delegation expressed profound admiration for the high standards they observed in forensic sciences and their pleasure in exploring Dubai Police’s advanced practices in forensic evidence and criminology.

In recognition of the visit, Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalaita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, presented a commemorative shield to the visiting delegation.
